Conacul Grigorescu is a shared dream between Juranda and Thorsten—a place where Romanian culinary traditions meet international expertise, where local ingredients tell stories, and where guests can experience authentic slow food hospitality in the heart of the UNESCO Global Geopark Buzău Land.

Juranda

Co-owner & Chef

Juranda is passionate about homemade, artisanal food and only uses local ingredients from her own production or the surrounding orchards and forests. She combines traditional Romanian recipes with international influences to create a unique slow food cuisine.

Her Journey

Juranda was born in Bucharest. After spending more than 10 years living in Wrocław, Paris and Bavaria, she returned to Romania in 2008 and moved to Buzău County, where her family is from.

There, she became co-owner and chef of the Grigorescu Mansion, a farm-to-table restaurant and event venue located at the entrance to the UNESCO Global Geopark Buzău Land.

Slow Food Leadership

In 2023, she became a co-founder of the Slow Food Buzău Community, strengthening the region's commitment to preserving culinary heritage and supporting local producers.

Thorsten

Co-owner & Operations Director

Thorsten was born in Germany and has travelled the world while working as an international development consultant. In 2008, he moved to Romania, where he initiated several tourism projects, including Mobile Cooking Romania.

From Bavaria to Buzău

After visiting the Dealu Mare wine region, he decided to start a new chapter in Buzău County, following in his family's footsteps: his grandparents owned a country restaurant, and his father ran a local delicatessen.

Thorsten is responsible for administration, marketing and wine/drinks procurement at Conacul Grigorescu, bringing his international experience and family heritage together.

Passion for Local Sourcing

He is passionate about the Carpathian Mountains, where all our ingredients, including truffles, are sourced. His deep knowledge of the region ensures authentic partnerships with local producers.
